A while ago, while travelling through Thailand, we came across a magnificent bird; the Hornbill. The trip to Thailand was a while ago. It took us a while getting around to making the print. But here it is!
We ended up in the Newspaperclub April Roundup! In April they printed nearly 200,000 newspapers. They made a small selection of projects that caught their eye; and one of them was our VeenPrints Newspaper :)
We wanted to give people the opportunity to learn about us, our adventures and illustrations at their own pace, at a time that suits them. The feeling of having a newspaper in your hands instantly gives you the idea that this is not just a tagline, it is a story. And you immediately approach it in a different way. Plus we had the opportunity to fill many of the large pages with our prints <3
We aim to only have our prints on eco friendly products. In search of new possibilities we came across a really cool company called Wasteboards. They create colourful skateboard decks out of recycled plastic bottle caps. We met up and they invited us to make a board together! They warned us, it wasn't going to be easy to recreate one of our VeenPrints on a board. But we don't easily back down from a challenge!
We went on a little road trip to Diemen to meet the people behind Wasteboards. We contacted them because we really like what they're doing: creating cool skateboard decks out of recycled plastic.
